Manitowoc County
Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (ASAP)
MCASAP has been in existence since April 2004. In 2007, MCASAP received a Drug Free Communities Grant that provides $125,000 each year for five years to address underage drinking, tobacco, prescription drug abuse and other other drug abuse in Manitowoc County.
Currently MCASAP is working on: - Sponsoring the Parents who Host Lose the Most Campaign. To raise awareness to Parents about the dangers of purchasing, providing or pouring alcohol to underage individuals. See our webpage
- Collaborated with local agencies to have Drug Disposal Days around Manitowoc County (Click here for more information on drug disposals) To reduce the incidence of prescription drug abuse.
- Working to make local festivals host events with alcohol more responsible and family friendly. (Click here for hosting suggestions)
- Working on consistent county wide athletic codes to hold all atheletes to the same level of excellence.
- Educating community members on the dangers of substance abuse and other risky behaviors. Also how to effectively crub these behaivors.
Mission Statement: Reduce the incidence of alcohol, tobacco and drug use by youth and young adults through education, peer leadership, policies and environmental strategies. |
